What Metricis Is

Metricis is a clinical research platform for teams that need governed data capture and participant workflows without fragmenting the study across unrelated tools.

It brings together:

  • study and longitudinal-registry operations;
  • native electronic data capture using FormSpec;
  • cognitive assessments and patient-reported outcomes;
  • eConsent, assent, re-consent, withdrawal, and purpose choices;
  • participant and caregiver web/mobile delivery, including offline-safe paths;
  • data-quality review, queries, source data verification, signatures, and locks;
  • REDCap and device-data integrations; and
  • policy-controlled APIs and analysis exports.

Who it serves

  • Investigators and study teams configure studies, registries, sites, arms, schedules, measures, and participant communications.
  • Coordinators and monitors review data, raise and resolve queries, verify sources, and move records through governed states.
  • Participants and caregivers complete consent, assessments, diaries, questionnaires, and scheduled work in the contexts relevant to them.
  • Data managers and analysts receive versioned, traceable data products with de-identification and export provenance.
  • Developers and institutional IT can inspect, deploy, integrate, and adapt the open-source platform.

Studies and registries are peers

A study is a protocol-defined research context with sites, arms, events, visits, and a bounded lifecycle. A longitudinal registry follows a population over time and may connect people to several sub-studies without becoming one of those studies.

Metricis preserves that distinction in identity, consent, data collection, and participant delivery. A person can have work from multiple linked contexts while each context keeps its own authority and provenance.

Native forms and assessments

FormSpec is the current native form definition and runtime contract. Definitions are versioned; releases are pinned to study or registry use; responses retain the version and provenance needed to reconstruct what a participant or researcher saw.

Interactive cognitive tasks use jsPsych 8 and share the wider scheduling, identity, consent, delivery, quality, and export infrastructure. Cognitive assessment remains an important specialty, but it is one capability within the broader platform.

Human-governed automation

Where enabled, AI-assisted authoring ingests protocol material and proposes a ChangeSet. The proposal is inspectable, linted, and reviewed before a person accepts and releases it. Metricis does not treat model output as an authoritative study configuration.

Understand availability before adopting

Some capabilities require external credentials or deployment infrastructure; others are intentionally feature-gated; research measures remain subject to study-specific scientific validation. Read Capability status before using a feature as an operational or regulatory commitment.
